How To Get It

There is no one method to follow in order to get service users involved.

Different people and groups have different needs, all of which must be taken into account as you develop your service user involvement programme.

A good place to start is to ask your service users how they want to be involved, how often they’d like to be consulted, where and when it should take place and at what level they want to work within your organisation. See the Ladder of Participation for more information.

The national survey carried out in November 2007 highlighted a number of ideas that can be thought of as ‘best practice’ and some of these can be found in this section.
